Family office heritage NFT Project

WHAT WE DID
WHO?

Supported a family office in their mission to build a community around the family legacy by supporting a number of for-profit and non-profit initiatives in sports and business. These include global sports tech investments, sports and lifestyle movements, and the international family office.

WHY?

AD Legacy wanted to launch an NFT project that would further strengthen their international community and its shared values. This would also be the brand’s first venture into the world of web3. Most people know Adidas as the $25.2 billion company it is today; with over 60,000 employees worldwide, and a portfolio of collaborations with the likes of Beyoncé, Run DMC, Prada, Disney, LEGO, and many more. But this is only a small part of its story of what makes Adidas the success it is today. AD Legacy wanted to create an NFT concept that would catapult the legacy, which goes back 100 years, into the 21st century.

HOW?

ERLY3 LABS partnered with 0LAbs to pool our expertise and propose Footprints: an NFT collection that will celebrate Adidas’ heritage, and give back to the brand’s evangelists, by offering them their very own piece of the Adidas story that left an imprint on the world of sporting apparel. We explored a variety of creative directions and opted to pay homage to the Erly Stage Studios’ graphic novel; Two Brothers and a Shoe, based on the founding of global sports brands Adidas and Puma.

Created by Erly Stage Studios

We started by identifying key milestones in the Adidas journey and our art team got to work to turn them into beautifully animated illustrations to capture the magic of the moment, experimenting with both monochrome and colours.

We also experimented with the creation of the original shoes, in 3D, from a variety of angles. The purpose of the NFT sample was to demonstrate to the client how we could propel the legacy of Adidas into the world of Web3, and we felt it was important that the design evoked this. We created cards in a retro, space-age style that captivated a nostalgic aesthetic that is popular among the web3 community and was in line with the brand. We incorporated these different elements into an NFT sample:

But we didn’t stop there – the next step was to animate the NFT sample to further capture the energy and spirit of these iconic moments in history. The final product was an NFT that celebrated the story and honoured the legacy of Adidas, in a dazzling animation sequence that would ignite a spark among the brand’s dedicated fans. In order to bring this NFT concept to life, we designed and wrote the copy for a pre-launch website that would excite and capture the attention of prospective buyers. To keep the messaging, look and feel cohesive, we worked closely alongside the 0Labs team to produce a pitch deck that communicated our thinking behind the NFT sample.

We further supported the client with a brand standards document that we used to inform the NFT branding and messaging, to ensure continuity between the two brands. The brand standards document included two sections. The first was ‘Defining the brand’ which included brand elements such as mission, vision, values; personality; voice and tone. This was followed by a section on ‘Design elements’, which included logo usage; typography; iconography; photography and video; business cards and letterhead.
